Steps To Prepare Devices For Donation

The below steps will allow us to use the devices effectively and quickly help a veteran. DON'T WORRY if you are not able to do it, as Phones for veterans have the necessary softwares and systems in place to ERASE ALL DATA SAFELY

  1. Step 1

    Back Up Your Data

    Transfer your photos, videos, contacts, documents, and messages to cloud storage (iCloud, Google Drive) or directly to a computer or external hard drive

  2. Step 2

    Sign Out of All Accounts

    This is the most critical step for ensuring the charity can actually utilize the phone. If you leave your accounts logged in, the phone may become activation-locked and completely unusable.

  3. Step 3

    Remove SIM Cards and Memory Cards

    Open the SIM tray using a paperclip or SIM ejector tool and remove your physical SIM card. (Note: If your phone uses an eSIM, ensure cellular plans are deactivated or wiped via settings).

  4. Step 4

    Erase Your Personal Data

    Wiping the device ensures your personal data, browser history, and downloaded apps are completely cleared. How to erase data?

  5. Step 5

    Carefully Pack

    Carefully pack the devices so they are not damaged in transit. Use of paper scraps and packing peanuts can be used.
